Symptoms
The update fails with the error file retrieval failed. There can be various reasons, it may be due to internet connectivity or it may be due to the security settings on your machine.

Resolution
There are various settings which can affect the Prospector update. If the first solution does not work then please try the alternative solutions.

Solution 1

1. Please check your internet connection. If you are unable to access WebPages e.g. www.trigold.co.uk then there maybe a problem with your connection. Restore your connection and then try updating again.

Solution 2

1. Click on Start → Run, type in services.msc into the text field click ok (Vista users type services.msc into the search field at the bottom of the start menu).

2. In services locate “Background Intelligent Transfer Service”, double click on it to bring up the properties, make sure the start-up type is automatic and then click apply and click ok.

And then right click on “Back Ground Intelligent Transfer Service” and click on start or restart (if start is greyed out).

3. Locate Trigold Update Service and repeat the same steps as for “Background Intelligent Transfer Service”

Solution 3

1. Click on Start → Run, type %temp% into the text field click ok (Vista users type %temp% into the search field at the bottom of the start menu).

2. Look for folder called download and delete it, sometimes the system will fail to delete the folder warning that fsadata.zzz is already in use. If you get this message please restart the machine and repeat steps 1 and 2.

Solution 4

Your antivirus software maybe preventing Prospector from updating successfully.

1. Click on Start à All Programs à Trigold(Crystal) à Prospector àTools Maintenance. Make a note of the Prospector Software Location e.g. “c:/program files/trigoldcrystal/prospector”

2. Configure your firewall to allow the following files as exceptions: download.exe, tssv2.exe, forms.exe, register.exe (they will be located in the Prospector Software Location noted earlier)

Should the fixes not resolve the problem, then please contact TrigoldCrystal on 08714 232 424 option 1 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
